Fergus Allen is Clifton Private Finance’s Head of Bridging and a CeMAP-qualified specialist in bridging and short-term property finance. Having joined as one of the original members of Clifton’s bridging team, he progressed through the business to lead the department from its dedicated Cardiff office.

Fergus oversees Clifton’s bridging team and supports its brokers with the assessment and structuring of regulated and unregulated bridging transactions. His experience spans residential, commercial, and semi-commercial property, including auction purchases, downsizing, refurbishment projects, development exits, portfolio finance, and cases involving complex security or exit strategies.

His published casework includes a £1.4 million bridging loan secured against a former farm subject to an overage agreement, the refinancing of a London hotel ahead of its sale, and a semi-commercial transaction involving a complex exit strategy. These cases demonstrate Fergus' experience across different property types, borrower requirements, and funding structures.

As Clifton Private Finance’s primary bridging subject-matter expert, Fergus reviews the company’s bridging guides and resources for technical accuracy. His review covers areas such as lender criteria, loan-to-value calculations, costs, regulated and unregulated lending, property eligibility, and exit strategy requirements. This helps ensure that Clifton’s published guidance reflects current market practice and the experience of its specialist bridging team.

Fergus also contributes insight into the development of Clifton’s bridging service, sharing practical knowledge gained from completed and ongoing cases with brokers across the team.

Outside work, Fergus maintains a strong interest in property investment and valuation. He also previously trained as a chef and continues to enjoy cooking in his spare time.
